1. God speaks, primarily to fellowship with his children, to guide, encourage
instruct or admonish, Gen 2:15-17, Gen 4:6-7, 9-12, Gen 12:1-3
2. He speaks, not just to adults but also to children, I Sam 3:11-14
3. He could speak to birds, commanding them to serve His prophet, I Kings
17:4-6 and they obeyed.
4. He does speak to animals, also in the service of man, Num 22:21-33
5. Because he has authority over the entire creation He could command
destructive insects to lay waste farmlands to punish sinful communities or
nations. 2 Chro. 7:13
Week 2: September 16
Topic: The Devil Also Speaks
Moderator: Dr. Femi Bammeke
Praise Worship Leader: Mrs. C.O. Afolabi
a. Satan too speaks, to mislead, misguide, deceive discourage and ultimately
destroy men. Gen 3:1-6
b. The exchange between Satan and Jesus in the wilderness showed one thing
clearly – Satan’s purposely and plan were designed to undermine the
mission of Jesus Christ on earth. Luke 4:1-13
c. When he failed on that occasion he tried to use Peter to achieve the same
objective. This time, Peter was the speaker but the voice was Satan’s, Matt
16:21-23, Luke 22:31&32, John 18:15-17; 25-27
d. But when Jesus confronts demons, with His superior and awesome power,
they are terrified. They speak, begging for mercy. Mk 5:6-10
Week 3: September 23
Topic: How To Hea r From God
Moderator: Mrs. C.S Akingbade
Praise Worship Leader: Mrs. Remi Kayode
Introduction: If ever we had any doubt that God speaks, not just to humans, but
also to all created beings, we now know that He does. To address the concerns of
His beloved children He, when he chooses, takes the form of angel, talking “faceto-face”, as it were, to those who are in desperate need of divine help Gen 18:1-
15.
But how many of us actually hear from Him? How many are in the habit of
listening?
1. God speaks all the time because he, the great Shepherd, wants to reach His
children, wherever they are, at all times.
But they must know Him and must be able to identify His voice. John
10:3 and 4
Otherwise, the devil, “the stranger”, “thief and robber” will mislead and
misguide them. John 10:5 and 8
They must cultivate the habit of listening, desiring to hear from Him by
deliberately seeking audience with Him, in the privacy of their study, on
“Ori Oke” etc. Mk 1:35-37
2. They must understand how God speaks
Through dreams and visions, Daniel 2:1-3, Acts 10:1-6. But the devil also
does, Job 7:13-14
Through audible voice, Matt 17:1-6
By inner witnessing, Rom 8:16-17
Through the scriptures. Ps 119:130
Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Acts 3:1-8
